Red Future Lions

Winning the Young Lions Brazil competition and going to Cannes in 2016 changed my life in many ways, but it had one special effect. After watching the lecture from Kevin Kelly about the "12 Technological Forces That Will Shape Our Future" and watching the Future Lions awards ceremony, I knew I had to do something to help my market to evolve and think beyond the tradicional medias. A few weeks later studying and working hard, I'm back to Brazil and talking to Celia Camargos, CEO from Redhook School, about creating a course to teach young professionals to use creativity together with technology. And that's how I debuted as a teacher. 

I developed the entire course based on Kevin Kelly's book and my experience as creative that believes in the power of technology to change lives, in a way that the my students could apply the concepts in real life for their jobs. In 7 months we have 7 main "modules" reaching key aspects of modern technology from today and specially tomorrow. Besides the classes, each month we work on a specific briefing, so the students can put their knowledge and creativity to proof, and the work they generate is judged by top creatives around the world.

Our 8 rules

At the beggining of the course, I stabilished 8 simple rules that we should persuit during the classes and for all of our jobs, as it follows:

RULE #1: DON'T THINK IN ADVERTISING
Let's no fool ourselves: no one likes it. So let's forget the bullshit and try to do something meaningfull.

RULE #2: WE ARE LOOKING FOR FIRSTS HERE
If it has already been done, it won't work for us.

RULE #3: CRITERIA IS DEVELOPED WITH A LOT OF NO'S
And it's not personal. Be prepared and keep trying.

RULE #4: SOLVE A REAL PROBLEM
And maybe then, people start liking advertising.

RULE #5: IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING
So let's imagine the best scenario possible.

RULE #6: A GREAT IDEA IS 80% IDEA AND 80% CRAFT
And I've never beeing a Math guy...

RULE #7: LOOK FOR WAYS TO GET THE IDEA BETTER
There is always a way.

RULE #8: CREATE AS IF IT WAS YOUR MONEY

Course Content

1- The New Web
It seems that we always had the web around us, but in 1995 (not much more than 20 years ago), Newsweek published the "The internet? Bah!" article. They couldn't believe it would be something people would actualy care about. Today we can't believe they actualy published it. But the web is in its infancy, and much little has been made yet. The coolest things has not been created yet. It's just a matter of time until there, and we can be part of it. The future is bright. Let's search for it.

2- A Smart World
As the microbrains get smaller and cheaper, we start to get them everywere. And it changes everything in our lives. From the way wash our clothes, until the way we target our audience. If there is something we can be sure about is that our future world will be conected, and everything that can be cognifyed, will be.
